The article provides an in-depth analysis of the potential and challenges of implementing artificial intelligence (AI) tools for the development of small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) in the Republic of Tajikistan. The key paradigms for understanding AI are presented from a scientific and methodological perspective. In the context of the National Digitalization Strategy (2025-2030), an overview of available AI tools for SMEs, their functions and estimated availability is presented, with an emphasis on cloud and freemium solutions. A detailed SWOT analysis of AI implementation in SMEs in the Republic of Tatarstan was conducted, and key barriers specific to the region (cost, personnel, data, infrastructure, digital literacy) were identified and analyzed. Detailed, scientifically based strategies and practical recommendations for SMEs and the government to stimulate the effective use of AI are proposed. The paper substantiates the conclusion about the strategic importance of AI for increasing the competitiveness of Tajik SMEs and its contribution to achieving the goals of the national digital economy.
