Author (s)

Mustajobova R.M.

Abstract

The article is devoted to a comprehensive analysis of the value of peace and national unity in the modern era and their role in strengthening the process of statehood in the Republic of Tajikistan. At the beginning, the article examines the complex situation in the country after gaining independence and the impact of the civil war on all spheres of political, social, and economic life, particularly on national security and political stability. The author emphasizes the outstanding and unique role of the Leader of the Nation, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon, who, in challenging and difficult circumstances, demonstrated strong will and wisdom, contributing to the peaceful resolution of internal conflicts, the restoration of peace and unity, and the strengthening of the foundations of statehood. The main part of the article analyzes the negotiation process and the signing of the General Agreement on the Establishment of Peace and National Accord in 1997, taking into account the direct role of the Leader of the Nation. The author notes that this agreement not only marked the end of the civil war but also the beginning of a new stage in the restoration of the country’s political system and the consolidation of statehood, with national unity and societal stability as its foundation. In the contemporary context, when countries around the world face serious threats of terrorism, extremism, and internal conflicts, Tajikistan’s experience in successfully resolving internal disputes through a peaceful and unifying approach serves as an outstanding and instructive example. The article also underscores the role of a culture of unity, the strengthening of national self-awareness, and patriotism as key pillars in the formation of society and the state.
