The article dwells on the place and role of citizens in reference to the conditions of a democratic political system where the people is accepted as a source of power. Under today’s conditions connected with the development of human rights and freedoms, where all citizens have equal rights for participation in political life, the research concerned with the status of citizens in the political life of the society and in state development is actual being of scientifico-practical importance. It is marked that in comparison with other political systems citizens in a democratic society enjoy political rights and state development depends on the standard of their activeness and responsibility. It is underscored that citizens’ political consciousness under the conditions of political democratic frameworks, development of Internet and informational wars acquires special importance in comparison with any other epoch. Alongside with citizens’ active participation in the political life of society and state, their conscientious adoption of solutions, evasion of political deception on the part of any organization exerts an essential influence over the defence of society’s political frameworks. The conclusion is made that the standard of citizens’ participation in state development depends not only o their knowledge level, but to what extent the political system, the political regime are interested in people’s activeness, in transformation and development of society either. The state adopting and implementing programmes and strategics can elevate the level of political knowledge and people’s activeness in political life, use effectively their creative potential for society’s development.
