Abstract

The studies concerned with MM influence over the process of formation of citizens’ political thinking are relatively new ones in comparison with the majority of political issues and today, under the conditions of informational society formation and informational wars between powers, its scientific consideration becomes extraordinarily actual. Different factors, mass media inclusive, affect the information and development of political thinking; the latters being canvassed today by researchers as the fourth branch of power. MM sway over changes in regard to citizens’ political views is stronger than that one of other media and formation of political ideology depends on a type of information. Development of informational-communicational technologies affords people to elevate their political knowledge irrespective of their status and geographical location, and further on, to express their viewpoints in reference to diverse political issues. In case of poor media literacy obnoxious information can change people’s consciousness, threaten stability and social security, inhibit state progress. In relation to it developed countries accrue their MM potentialities for attainment of their own geopolitical aims at the expense of augmentation of financial expenditures. The existence of vacuum in the informational space creates prerequisites for dissemination of ideology, foreign to society, and undermines its political unity and stability. In this context such developing countries as Tajikistan can promote a formation of sound political opinion of citizens and defence of their informational security at the expense of the enhancement of MM potentialities.
