The article deals with differentiation in socio-economic development of the regions of the Republic of Tajikistan. It is substantiated that the accumulated disproportions in the socio-economic development of the country and its individual territorial entities act as an obstacle to the stable development of the national economy. It stresses the need to strengthen state participation in solving the problem of disproportions in the socio-economic development of regions. The factors that influence the emergence of regional disproportions are clarified, the ongoing structural transformation, as well as its depth and speed, are shown on the example of the industry of the country's regions. The necessity of monitoring the changes taking place in the economy of the regions, which affect the level of their socio-economic development, is substantiated. An idea was put forward about the need to develop a concept for the socio-economic development of the regions of the Republic of Tajikistan, which would comprehensively take into account the potential of each region.
